The Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties’ new Prosser Clubhouse is nearing completion at 999 Seventh St.

The 15,000-square-foot clubhouse will combine both the nonprofit’s elementary and teen programs under one roof while designating separate spaces to address the needs of both age groups. This will allow the Boys & Girls Clubs to increase its organizational efficiencies so it can spend more time and resources serving youth.

The new facility will be able to accommodate at least 200 youth each day, eliminating the need for a waitlist.

The existing clubhouse and teen center serve more than 300 youth each year, ages 5-18. The club runs programs each weekday after school, throughout the summer and on no-school days. On any given weekday, about 100 kids and teens walk through the doors.

The new clubhouse will allow the Boys & Girls Clubs to serve more Prosser youth than ever before.

Highlights of the new clubhouse include a recreation gym to keep kids active, teen space that is engaging and inviting, program spaces for tech, art and learning, and an efficient and safe layout and design.

The project cost $6.3 million. The land and facility were secured through a long-term lease with the Prosser School District.

Chervenell Construction of Kennewick is the general contractor.

Design West of Kennewick is the architect.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties’ mission is to empower all young people, especially those who need it the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

For more than 25 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties has been working to provide a safe, positive place for kids and teens before and after school, and during school breaks.

The clubhouse is scheduled to be completed in December 2024.
